Wood of Life Exhibition:
Exhibition focusing on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) visits Clones Library
Every second of every day, an area of rainforest the size of Croke Park pitch is destroyed. That’s 86,400 Croke Park pitches of rainforest per day, or over 31 million Croke Park pitches of rainforest lost each year. In order to satisfy Ireland’s demands for tropical timber an estimated 50-60 acres of African rainforest is chopped down and destroyed daily.
Tropical forest exploitation is causing grave social, environmental and economic hardships for rural dwellers and keeping millions of people in poverty worldwide. Its time to play fair and celebrate the astonishing contribution the world’s forests play in our lives. You can help.
