New Look Streetscape in Clones

The New bronze statue, erected on lower Fermanagh Street, is due to be publicly unveiled soon. The statue entitled Leap Frog, commissioned by the Clones Regeneration Partnership, was designed by Smithboro Artist and Monaghan County Council Public Art Manager Joanne Behan.
Evoking the carefree essence of childhood innocence and the traditional games that many Clones locals have witnessed and indeed joined on with over the years!.
The Statue fulfils the provision for an artistic feature under the Clones Regeneration Partnerships Streetscape project, coordinated by the chamber of commerce, which saw several shop fronts and buildings on Fermanagh Street re painted. The project has continued an ongoing refurbishment of the street which began in 2001. The works cost in total of €60,000 to which the finishing touches where applied this week.
The street scape project was funded by Monaghan Lead Peace 2 Task force supported by contributions from the private sector and Clones Town Council.

The creator
Joanne Behan studied Fine Art specialising in sculpture at Crawford College of Art in Cork. She graduated in1997and has exhibited in various exhibitions which usually includes smaller scale bronze sculptures and drawings. Joanne is a member of Clones Artist Co-Op and is presently working as
